WEEK 9: Football

After a big week of work I agreed to spending my Saturday afternoon watching the Arsenal Vs Aston Villa final in a pub right in the thick of Arsenal territory. I know I know, I can hear what you're all saying - you never thought you'd see the day that I went to watch a Football match (or Soccer as we call it) voluntarily. Well don't get too excited I haven't decided to embrace sport just because I'm in a new country, however I did promise myself that I would keep my mind open to new opportunities. Plus when there's drinks it makes the opportunity seem a little easier.

All I can say is thank god Arsenal won, it's safe to say there were absolutely no AV fans in this pub. Right after kick off we witnessed our first pub brawl. Apparently one gentleman was not impressed by the service provided by the bar staff (in his defense it was extremely difficult to get served), upon receiving his order he proceeded to throw his drink back in the bartenders face to teach him a lesson. It didn't go over too well and us girls struggled to find a safe corner to stand out of harms way. No hiccups for the rest of the game, thank goodness.

The thrill of the audience was contagious, I've never before seen a group of such passionate and proud supporters - chanting and jumping up and down at the site of any success.

Their spirit was contagious I couldn't resist...

The festivities carried on into the night and so Sunday was spent recovering.

A weekend that passed way too quickly. This weekend is set for some sunshine and it feels like Summer has finally arrived in London. Bring on the Pimms, picnics and picturesque places - the 4P's as I like to call it.

Until next week... xo
